The Museum
Our collection aims to preserve and propagate the history of Portage County and surrounding areas for educational, genealogical, and other research purposes. Portage County Historical Society will preserve and maintain these materials for future generations and provide access to the materials under safe and secure conditions. We will work in conjunction with schools, as well as other local history entities, such as historical societies and libraries, to educate the public on the holdings of the collection and on the history of Portage County, Ohio.

Statue of Lady Justice, which once stood above the old Portage County Courthouse, which was demolished in 1961.
19th century buffalo coat intended for use in extreme cold weather. Created before bison were hunted to near-extinction.
Stained glass window from the 1882 Ravenna Courthouse. In front of the window are wooden statues of a boy and girl. They were carved circa 1890 by Caleb Ebersold. Born in Switzerland, Ebersold was the chief designer and head woodcarver for the Riddle Coach & Hearse Company between 1879 and 1917.
Desk and historic office equipment. Some artifacts are from the old courthouse, demolished in 1961.
